Nassif: With Guedes and Bolsonaro, there is no chance of economic recovery.

"Despite the fact that, on the two occasions when he met with business leaders, Bolsonaro maneuvered to pit them against the other branches of government – the Supreme Court and Congress – with each passing day the government's ineffectiveness in the economic field becomes clearer," writes journalist Luis Nassif.

247 - "With the political impasses and the continued presence of Bolsonaro – and especially Paulo Guedes – there is not the slightest possibility of an economic recovery," writes Luis Nassif in his column published in the GGN newspaper. "Despite the fact that, on the two occasions when he met with business leaders, Bolsonaro maneuvered to pit them against the other branches of government – the Supreme Court and Congress – with each passing day the government's ineffectiveness in the economic field becomes clearer."

The journalist points out that "the release of funds for credit has run into an obvious difficulty, highlighted here from the start: it would be pointless to make resources available to banks if the issue of credit risk, which would then be borne by the banks, was not resolved. The solution would be for the Treasury to assume most of the risk through the BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank). So far, nothing has happened. The difficulties imposed by Paulo Guedes – both in aid to states and companies – are so recurrent that it's hard to tell if it's a matter of incompetence or sabotage."
