Changes in Business Times

Nelson Blecher is stepping down as head of the publishing arm of Editora Globo, a publishing house he had directed since its launch in March 2007.

247 – Época Negócios magazine, published by Editora Globo, will have a change in leadership starting next week. Nelson Blecher, the publication's editor-in-chief since its launch in March 2007, will be replaced by David Cohen, Época's current editor-in-chief. This information was published on Wednesday, the 4th, in the week's edition of Jornalistas & Cia. According to the publication, the change had been planned since 2009, but would be implemented after the celebrations of Blecher's 40-year career, which took place in February. According to Jornalistas & Cia, Blecher will take a sabbatical before assuming new responsibilities at the publishing house.

According to a statement released by the publisher's general director, Frederic Kachar, Blecher – who held the position of director of the company's Business Group – will return to collaborate with the magazine and other titles of the publisher. He will also work with the human resources department of Editora Globo to recruit new talent and train journalists in economics and business. "Four years after its launch, our Negócios magazine is consolidated in the market and now needs to intensify its brand expansion," wrote Kachar.

David Cohen has been editor-in-chief of Época since March 2006, having previously held the same position at Playboy magazine, published by Editora Abril, where he stayed for about a year, and was executive editor of Exame for seven and a half years. Cohen also previously worked at Jornal do Brasil and Folha de S.Paulo, from where he left to work at Abril.
