Traditional media wants Bolsonaro out, but supports Moro and Guedes.

During a live broadcast of the "Free Lula" Digital Campaign, journalist Rodrigo Vianna highlighted that Lava Jato was the "seed" of Jair Bolsonaro. Legal expert Carol Proner says that Sérgio Moro must also be held accountable.

Jair Bolsonaro's super-ministers

Current Brazil Network - According to journalist Rodrigo Vianna, the departure of former minister Sergio Moro from the Bolsonaro government represents a "split" in the right-wing bloc, with traditional sectors distancing themselves from the radical wings of Bolsonarism. Another symbol of this rupture was the unprecedented decision by media outlets not to send journalists to the "pigsty" at the Alvorada Palace. However, they continue to support not only Moro but also the neoliberal policies of the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.

According to lawyer and professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Carol Proner, it is not possible to spare Moro. In addition to his biased actions as a judge in the Lava Jato operation, as a minister he "prevaricated" by failing to denounce the numerous crimes committed by the Bolsonaro government. He also committed a crime by illegally requesting a pension for his family and bargaining for his nomination to the Supreme Court.

Carol and Vianna discussed the legal and political issues involving Bolsonaro and Moro, this Saturday (30), during the broadcast of the Lula Livre Digital Campaign.

“Moro has become a representative of this sector of the center-right that is trying, once again, to become viable, now separate from Bolsonaro. Preferably, by distancing themselves from the president. For that, they need some kind of alliance with our side, with the people who have always defended democracy and who have always said that Lava Jato would lead to this. Lava Jato was the seed of something very dangerous. And Bolsonaro is part of that,” the journalist analyzed.

Clearance

For Carol, who is also a member of the Brazilian Association of Jurists for Democracy (ABJD), the ministerial meeting that took place on April 22, which precipitated Moro's departure from the government, is "a show of politically motivated crimes" and "further fuels the impeachment process." Thirty-eight impeachment requests have already been filed, and others are being prepared.

She quoted a phrase from Beatriz Vargas, a professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Brasília (UnB), who says that "as serious as an impeachment without a crime of responsibility," as happened with former President Dilma Rousseff, "are crimes of responsibility without impeachment," such as the numerous ones committed by Bolsonaro.

The collective effort

The "Free Lula Digital Campaign" is a virtual initiative that aims to engage with the public about the risks to democracy, which have been present since the impeachment of former President Dilma Rousseff and are currently deepening during the Bolsonaro administration. Amidst this, there is the judicial persecution of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who was illegally excluded from the last election.

The rallying cry is #AnulaSTF (Annul the Supreme Court ruling), urging the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to begin the trial regarding the alleged bias of then-judge Sergio Moro. There is a wealth of evidence and indications, including dialogues published by The Intercept Brasil, demonstrating that the law was distorted and used as a political weapon to try to remove Lula from the Brazilian political scene.

TVT and Brasil de Fato participated in the joint effort, along with more than 70 other pages in simultaneous transmission.
