Corporate media once again silences Lula's voice.
Although it remains the most discussed topic on social media, former president Lula disappeared from Brazilian newspapers this Sunday, as if his interview, which also became the most widely reported issue about Brazil in the world, were merely an anomaly. The major newspapers even avoided commenting on Jair Bolsonaro's insults – who called Lula a "drunkard" – so as not to remind their readers that an interview had taken place.
247 - Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has once again been exiled in his own country by the corporate press. Although his interview with journalists Florestan Fernandes Júnior and Mônica Bergamo for El Pais and Folha continues to be the most discussed topic on social media and also the one with the greatest international impact on Brazil, the unified order of the major newspapers was to silence Lula's voice. This Sunday, the interview practically disappeared from the newspapers, which even avoided mentioning Jair Bolsonaro's insults – who labeled Lula a 'drunkard' – so as not to remind their readers of the existence of the interview.
In it, Lula demanded that judges judge his case according to the facts of the case, and not out of fear of the media; that businessmen defend national industry; and that the military defend Brazil's sovereignty. Regarding workers, Lula advocated that they take to the streets to defend their rights (learn more). hereLula's words, however, seem to be uncomfortable and inconvenient for the traditional media.
