China Radio International In recent days, international media outlets, such as the British newspaper Financial Times and news agencies Reuters and EFE, have published observations about China: the streets of Beijing are bustling again, Chinese tourists are rushing to book trips abroad, commercial activity is recovering in Chinese cities, and the number of tourists in hotels has registered a significant increase. The stories of Chinese life returning to normal occupy the front pages of many foreign media outlets.
At the start of the new year, the renewed vitality in major Chinese cities like Beijing and Shanghai is considered an important sign of China's positive recovery. In various regions of the country, people skied, bathed in hot springs, and formed long lines in front of popular restaurants. The colorful lights of tourist areas illuminated the night sky, dispelling the harsh winter cold.
The Chinese government recently readjusted its policies for preventing and controlling the Covid-19 epidemic. These adjustments were made based on an understanding of pathogens and diseases, the level of population immunity, the resilience capacity of the health system, and public health social intervention measures, and were deemed appropriate, scientific, and aligned with the Chinese reality.
From the beginning of the outbreak, the Chinese government has consistently upheld the supremacy of the people and their lives, persisting in scientific and precise prevention and control, adjusting and improving epidemic-related measures as needed. Because of these efforts, the safety and health of the Chinese people are protected to the fullest extent.
“The country has entered a new phase of prevention and control in which we need to continue our efforts. We are all redoubling our efforts with firmness. The dawn is ahead of us.” President Xi Jinping’s statement in his New Year’s address injected confidence into the development of China and the world.
The lively atmosphere in Beijing and Shanghai is generating a strong boost for the world. A depressed global economy needs this certainty more than ever. According to the American magazine Barron's, China is the only one among the major economies expected to achieve positive GDP growth in 2023, helping to slow the pace of the global recession. The American broadcaster CNBC also predicts a boom in Chinese consumption.
It is believed that a China full of vigor and vitality will bring more opportunities and hope to the world in 2023.
