Mello Franco: Retired at 55, Temer asks you for 49 years of contributions.

"The government wants to force Brazilians to contribute for 49 years to be entitled to a full pension. Temer obtained the benefit at age 55. Under the rule he wants to impose on others, he would have needed to start working at age 6, which would prevent him from attending literacy classes," says columnist Bernardo Mello Franco.

247 - Columnist Bernardo Mello Franco, in an article published this Wednesday, criticizes Michel Temer's pension reform, which allowed him to retire early at the age of 55.

"The government wants to force Brazilians to contribute for 49 years to be entitled to a full pension. Temer obtained the benefit at age 55. Under the rule he wants to impose on others, he would have needed to start working at age 6, which would prevent him from attending literacy classes," he says.

Under the reform rules, only those who contribute for 49 years will be entitled to the full benefit. Furthermore, pensions will be decoupled from the minimum wage.
