More than half of Brazil has access to the internet.

247 – Internet users in the country surpassed half of the Brazilian population for the first time in 2013. The figure exceeds 85,9 million people, according to the ninth edition of the ICT Households survey, released this Thursday by the Center for Studies on Information and Communication Technologies (Cetic.br).

Among the factors cited by the performance are the increased use of cell phones for connectivity and the proliferation of portable devices, such as laptops and tablets. 

Young people continue to be the predominant profile: 75% of those aged 10 to 15, 77% of those aged 16 to 24, and 66% of those aged 25 to 34 are internet users. The age group above 45 continues to grow, jumping from 39% of the segment in 2012 to 44% in 2013.
