Kennedy: Maia's date is a "gift" to Cunha

"It will be a scandal to hold this vote [on the impeachment of Eduardo Cunha] on a day of low attendance in the National Congress. Since 257 votes out of 513 deputies are needed for Cunha to be impeached, this date is a gift to the PMDB member and a slap in the face of society given the number of serious accusations against him," criticizes the journalist, regarding the date of September 12th officially set by the Speaker of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ).

247 - The date of September 12th for voting on the removal of Eduardo Cunha, officially announced yesterday by the Speaker of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), is a "gift" for the PMDB member, who is a defendant in the Supreme Court, and "a slap in the face of society," criticizes journalist Kennedy Alencar.

"It would be a scandal to hold this vote [on the impeachment of Eduardo Cunha] on a day of low attendance in the National Congress. Since 257 votes out of 513 deputies are needed for Cunha to be impeached, this date is a gift to the PMDB member and a slap in the face of society given the number of serious accusations against him," he says.

"Furthermore, it shows that the government and a good portion of the Chamber fear secrets that Cunha might make public. Approving Dilma's impeachment and giving Cunha the chance to escape confirms the use of double standards and reinforces the thesis of a parliamentary coup against the Workers' Party member," the political columnist adds.
