A court has convicted Bolsonaro supporter Oswaldo Eustáquio for accusing the PSOL party of participating in the alleged stabbing of Bolsonaro.

The judge in the case says that Eustáquio had the "intention of tarnishing the dignity" of PSOL by falsely linking the party to the alleged attack against Bolsonaro.

In April 2020, Eustáquio falsely accused a faction of PSOL of having participated, together with Adélio Bispo, in the alleged stabbing of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) during the 2018 election campaign.

The blogger will have to pay R$ 10 to the political party as compensation.

The Bolsonaro clan claims that Bispo, the perpetrator of the alleged stabbing, was affiliated with the PSOL party. Documentary by journalist Joaquim de Carvalho, from TV 247. "Bolsonaro and Adélio - a stab in the heart of Brazil" - shows that Bispo was affiliated with the PSD.

In his decision, Judge Telmo Zaions Zainko states that the blogger distorted the content of a statement given to the Federal Police, fabricating statements and sharing conclusions without any basis. "At no point is such an inference made; on the contrary, upon reading the full statement, the witness mentions hearing 'someone' comment about the deputies from Annex 4 [of the Chamber of Deputies] and former deputy Jean Wyllys, implying that they were not useless politicians," the magistrate affirms.

"I consider the publication malicious, as the intent to defame was demonstrated in the conduct, insofar as the defendant [Eustáquio] intended to tarnish the dignity of the plaintiff [PSOL] by indicating his connection to the attack perpetrated against President Jair Bolsonaro," the ruling states.

In addition to the compensation, Eustáquio was sentenced to a fine equivalent to one minimum wage and a prison term of four months and 20 days, to be served in an open regime. The blogger will have to appear in court monthly to report and justify his activities, be at his residence by 22 pm, and not travel without judicial authorization. Furthermore, he will not be allowed to frequent bars, gambling houses, brothels, or places where alcoholic beverages are sold.
