"Silvana, what we're seeing here is very painful. It's impossible not to get emotional, because we know there are people here who still need to be rescued. What we're witnessing here is very difficult," said Fachel, crying.
After appearing on Bom Dia Rio, Fachel made another appearance on the program Mais Você, where he recounted his feelings as he was amidst the rubble and became emotional. "What the reporters feel doesn't even come close to what the population is experiencing," he emphasized.
Fachel also offered a political analysis of the tragedy. The journalist emphasized that the problem in the region isn't the rain, but the political will to change what happens practically every year and is known to the authorities.
"To be clear, I think it needs to be said: what is happening here today in Petrópolis is not a result of the rain, it's not the rain that caused this, it comes every beginning of the year."
