Janio: In Brasília, the equivalent of those in Rocinha possess the most terrible weapon of all: power.

Columnist Janio de Freitas compared this Sunday, the 24th, the criminality targeted by military action in the Rocinha community in Rio de Janeiro with the crimes committed in Brasília; "In Rocinha there are modern rifles, yes. In Brasília, the equivalents of the Rocinha criminals have the most comprehensive and terrible of weapons: power – to govern for the benefit of groups, to legislate in their own interest and that of their bribe-givers, to burn a few accomplices and preserve the bulk of the white-collar criminals," he states; "Robbery for robbery, much more is stolen from public coffers, hundreds of billions, no one knows, than the small change from passersby, the change from store cash registers, cell phones, watches and cars," adds Janio.

247 - Columnist Janio de Freitas compared this Sunday, the 24th, the criminality targeted by military action in the Rocinha community in Rio de Janeiro with the crimes committed in Brasília. According to Janio, Brazil has several "Rocinhas" scattered throughout the country.

"Yes, there are modern rifles in Rocinha. In Brasília, the equivalents of the criminals in Rocinha have the most comprehensive and terrible of weapons: power – the power to govern for the benefit of groups, to legislate in their own interest and that of their bribes, to burn a few accomplices and preserve the bulk of the white-collar criminals," he states.

"If this is the case at the top of the country, where struggles for more power are also taking place, what can be expected of those who have the same nature but do not receive the same opportunities from life? Robbery by robbery, much more is stolen from public coffers—no one knows how many hundreds of billions—than the small change from passersby, the change from store cash registers, cell phones, watches, and cars," adds Janio.

According to the journalist, homicide originating in the Rocinhas favelas is growing and spreading uncontrollably. "In parallel to the homicide that doesn't go by that name, to protect its perpetrators. And which kills with the lethal weapons that are the absence of medicines for transplant recipients, HIV patients, diabetics, tuberculosis patients, heart patients, and so many more, due to 'lack of funds' that the wealthy in power have cut," he states.

"When it's not death itself, it's the torture of waiting for a hospital bed, the months spent waiting for a cancer test, the months spent waiting for surgery. The merciless wait for death. Decreed in the luxurious heights of Brasília, in the Cabralian thievery not only of Rio de Janeiro, and often authorized by the majority of transvestites in Congress – bandits posing as representatives of the people. The homicides of the Rocinhas delinquents are generally much less numerous," says Janio de Freitas.
