247 - Website report The Intercept Brazil It brings new revelations about Lava Jato's illegal partnership with the FBI, the prosecutors' refusal to share information with the Attorney General's Office, and points to the political ambitions of the operation's task force.

The report highlights that both former minister and former judge Sérgio Moro, as well as the prosecutor and coordinator of the task force, Deltan Dallagnol, "They already have their speeches ready for 2022. They will be the heroes against corruption and the perverse political system that is hindering Lava Jato, and the former judge who abandoned his career to clean up the country.”

“If the operation is still underway by then, at eight years old, who will stop it from using the investigations to remove political adversaries from its path or to pressure potential allies whose support might be important into not offending them?” the text questions. “The more than a thousand open investigations will still be readily available. And who doesn't remember how Lava Jato selectively leaked wiretaps of the then-President of the Republic to prevent Lula from becoming a minister and escaping their reach?” the report recalls.

"Moro, Dallagnol, and company have already used the investigation they lead to help decide a presidential election in which they weren't even running. You can imagine what they'll do if their names are on the ballot. For the sake of democracy, it's best that they only be candidates in 2022," the text concludes.
