Helena Chagas: Temer surprises with his truculence.
According to the journalist and former Minister of Social Communication, the interim president is "afraid" of the maneuvering led by the ousted president Dilma Rousseff; "Otherwise, he wouldn't risk being accused of opportunism in orchestrating the reduction of the ousted president's defense deadlines to accelerate the final impeachment vote in the Senate, or of pettiness in cutting the use of FAB (Brazilian Air Force) planes for his predecessor to travel around Brazil," she says.
247 - "Not even with a crystal ball could we have imagined that the 2016 impeachment would bring to light a truculent Temer and an articulate Dilma," said journalist Helena Chagas, from the blog Os Divergentes, this Monday, the 6th.
According to Helena, who was Minister of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency in Dilma's first government, Michel Temer is "afraid" of Dilma. "Otherwise, he wouldn't risk being accused of opportunism in orchestrating the reduction of the deadlines for the ousted president's defense to accelerate the final impeachment vote in the Senate, or of pettiness in cutting the use of FAB (Brazilian Air Force) planes for his predecessor to travel around Brazil. The suspension of funds for food purchases for the Alvorada Palace, if he was aware of it, also falls into the category of actions that one would not expect from the correct and cautious constitutionalist Temer," she says.
Helena Chagas also mentions the speed and scope of the dismissals in a government of which she was, for better or worse, a part, and the voracious way in which her allies, from waiters to ministers, seized power.
On the other hand, according to the journalist, Dilma is showing herself to be articulate in defending her mandate. "In her travels and semi-rallies around the country, interventions on Facebook and other events, she's like a kid in a candy store. Animated, articulate, without any sign of weakness or discouragement, she has been successful and has gained supporters. Even her well-known verbal stumbles and speech inadequacies seem to be overcome. All this despite being aware that her chances of returning to govern the country are minimal," she stated.
