The man largely responsible for the discovery of the pre-salt oil reserves, geologist Guilherme Estrella, is appalled by the direction the coup government is taking Petrobras: "It's a deal completely contrary to the national interest, which will explode down there, in the price of diesel, gasoline, and cooking gas, which has risen to R$ 80 a cylinder!"; he says that 1.2 million households have returned to using wood-burning stoves.

"(...) This is primitive! The country is going back to the Paleolithic era, we are going back to the Paleolithic era! Ten thousand years ago, humans used firewood."
This is just one of the perverse consequences of the "chaos that has taken hold at Petrobras," as the expert said in an interview with TUTAMÉIA. Estrella doesn't mince words when describing the situation: "This is the grim, completely disorganized, chaotic picture of gigantic incompetence in the management of this system."
