Globo mentions "error" in article about Science Without Borders.

After making a false accusation about the federal government program, the broadcaster apologized and referred to it as a "reporting error" in a message given by presenter Chico Pinheiro on Bom Dia Brasil; however, the student who complained on Facebook about the bias of the report said that she explained "numerous times" to the reporter that she did not return from the US due to insecurity caused by lack of money, "especially since this was the ONLY installment of the scholarship that did not arrive during my entire exchange program (...) But Globo found it more interesting to omit this and invent a more attractive reason."

247 - Globo cited a "reporting error" in the story aired last week about the federal government's Science Without Borders program. The network's apology, delivered through journalist Chico Pinheiro, who presents Bom Dia Brasil, was broadcast on Friday the 15th, after a student who participated in the story accused Globo of "lying". via Facebook.

"We have determined that Amanda did not return early. She finished the course and decided not to do the internship after classes ended. It was a mistake in the reporting, and we apologize to you, our viewer, and to Amanda, who rightfully complained," said Chico Pinheiro. In her message, however, the student suggests that Globo intentionally gave the report a different slant.

"I did NOT return to Brazil because of the insecurity caused by the lack of money. Especially since that was the ONLY installment of the scholarship that didn't arrive during my entire exchange program. I returned for the simple reason that my classes at UFT were starting now and I judged it wasn't worth losing another semester (and this was said NUMEROUS TIMES in my interview. But Globo found it more interesting to omit this and invent a more attractive reason)," says an excerpt from her text, which defines the report as a "lie" and calls Globo "sensationalist."
