Fox News apologizes in official statement.

The communications company, whose Twitter account was hacked, is the biggest critic of President Barack Obama.

247_FoxNews is among the most discussed topics on Twitter worldwide. With the hashtag #foxnewstwitterpassword, comments range from support to condemnation of the act committed by hackers on American Independence Day. For two hours, starting at 1 a.m. (Washington time), the news of President Barack Obama's death, shot twice in Iowa, was leaked from the company's 140-character news channel to the World Wide Web. In an official statement (reproduced below), FoxNews, the biggest critic of President Obama's work, apologizes and states that the news is unfounded. "The president is spending the 4th of July holiday with his family at the White House"; "The company alerted the US Secret Service"; "FoxNews regrets any disruption the false tweets may have caused."

The political news Twitter account of FoxNews.com, FoxNewspolitics, was hacked on Monday morning.

Hackers sent out numerous false and malicious tweets claiming that President Obama had been assassinated. This information is obviously incorrect, and the president is spending the 4th of July holiday with his family at the White House.

The tweets have been removed from the news list.

FoxNews.com alerted the U.S. Secret Service, which declined to comment publicly. Jeff Misenti, vice president and general manager of Fox News digital, said that FoxNews.com is working with Twitter to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

“We have requested a thorough investigation from Twitter into what happened and have taken steps to prevent future unauthorized access to FoxNews.com accounts,” Misenti said.

FoxNews.com regrets any disruption that the false tweets may have caused.
