Folha argues that Bolsonaro is a coup plotter and blackmailer.

The proposal to increase the number of Supreme Court justices to control the Court "was pulled from the authoritarian archives in the wake of Bolsonaro's victories in the legislative elections."

247 - In an editorial published on Monday night (10), the Folha de S. Paul says that Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is con artist and blackmailerThe text refers to the proposal that is on the desk of the Chief Executive of increase the number of ministers on the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to control it..

"The proposal was pulled from the authoritarian archives in the wake of victories by Bolsonaro supporters and his ilk in legislative elections. One such case was that of the Vice President of the Republic himself, Hamilton Mourão (Republicans), a retired general nostalgic for the comforts of the dictatorship and elected senator for Rio Grande do Sul," the editorial highlights.

The newspaper highlights that Bolsonaro is clearly blackmailing the STF: "the president brought up the subject again this Sunday (9), in an openly blackmailing tone. 'If I am re-elected and the Supreme Court lowers the temperature a bit', he conditioned, in his tortuous style, 'maybe you will discard this suggestion'".

Folha, however, says that Bolsonaro, if re-elected, will have a difficult path to carry out the 'reform' of the Supreme Court. "A reform of the Supreme Court depends on a constitutional change, which requires the support of 60% of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. However strengthened it may be, authoritarian Bolsonarism does not have that many votes, nor does the leader's precarious popularity seem capable of moving parliamentarians. Brazilian society has given consistent demonstrations of defending democratic values, even with understandable criticisms of the performance of the branches of government. The institutions, likewise, resist populist attacks."
