Estadão reverts to being Mesquita.

After years of advocating for professionalization, the Estado de S. Paulo group will once again be led by a member of the family: Francisco de Mesquita Neto.

247 – Taken over by the Mesquita family in 1902, the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper was run by members of the dynasty for almost a century. In recent years, however, the company had adopted a discourse of "professionalization." And, with the Mesquita family on the board, management had been handed over to market professionals. Now, Estadão is reversing its strategy and appointing a Mesquita to head the newspaper again. It is Francisco de Mesquita Neto. The current president, Silvio Genesini, is leaving the organization. SÃO PAULO - The Board of Directors of State Group On Friday, July 20th, the company announced a new leadership structure, effective August 1st. Silvio Genesini, who served as CEO for the past three years, will complete his contract and leave the organization at the end of August. Genesini led important and innovative projects and partnerships, expanded the brand portfolio, and broadened the digital presence of the company's products. State Group.

The Executive Presidency will be held, starting August 1st, by Francisco Mesquita Neto, shareholder and member of the Board of Directors. Previously, Francisco was CEO of the company for 15 years. State Group, having subsequently held the position of CEO, for three years, of the TotalCom S/A group. He was also CEO of the Unialco S/A group for a period of two years. In addition to the Board of Directors of State GroupFrancisco is a member of company boards in Brazil and abroad. He is also one of the vice-presidents of the National Association of Newspapers (ANJ) and responsible for the Freedom of Expression Committee of that entity, of which he was also president for two terms.

Francisco's appointment was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors of State Group and had the support of all shareholders. Francisco and Genesini will work together on the transition until the end of August.

"The move does not deviate from the course of this organization in its already well-established model of professionalization," says Plinio Villares Musetti, Chairman of the Board. "Francisco assumes the Executive Presidency with the mission of consolidating and implementing the Group's strategic vision of transformation and supporting executives in their plans to achieve it," he adds.

All the Group's directorates report to the new CEO, who will be joined, starting July 25th, by Christiano Nygaard, in the role of Director of Reader Market and Operations. Nygaard worked for over 20 years at Grupo RBS and is transferring to... State Group.
