In an editorial published this Monday, Estadão says that Bolsonaro has no interest in preserving the economy or the lives of citizens. "The only thing that matters to him is saving his government and, above all, his image, with a view to the next election."

O newspaper It denounces Jair Bolsonaro's attitude during the G-20 leaders' meeting, a group of the world's leading economies that announced an injection of around US$5 trillion into the global economy to address the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"At the meeting, held via teleconference, all G-20 leaders had a few minutes for comments. President Jair Bolsonaro used his time to defend measures to stimulate the economy and highlight the supposed progress in the development of a hydroxychloroquine-based drug to contain the new coronavirus – research on which, despite Bolsonaro's optimism, is still far from conclusive," the newspaper writes.
"For Bolsonaro, preserving neither the economy nor the lives of citizens matters; the only thing that matters is saving his government and, above all, his image, with a view to the next election. That is why he rebels against all those who – governors in particular, but also his Minister of Health – propose or administer bitter, but essential, remedies to contain the epidemic."
