Demori: Bolsonaro believes the test result was a battle for a narrative.

According to journalist Leandro Demori, Bolsonaro's post giving the middle finger to announce that his coronavirus test was negative is because "he thinks this was a direct battle between him and a virus over a 'narrative,' that COVID wanted to capitalize on him."

247 - Journalist Leandro Demori, from The Intercept, commented on his social media page about Jair Bolsonaro's reaction to the negative result of his coronavirus test. Bolsonaro shared the news on social media with photos of himself giving the middle finger.

"The choice of photo shows once again the lack of synapses in this guy's head: he thinks this was a direct battle between him and a virus over a 'narrative,' that Covid wanted to impose on him, and then he won with an even more sensationalist comeback," Demori emphasized.

Other internet users criticized Bolsonaro's stance and pointed out that the rumors circulating in the press, including internationally, citing members of the Bolsonaro clan as sources regarding a possible positive result, were also part of a media strategy.

"The Bolsonaros' strategy was as follows: let's leak to the press that the president has coronavirus, then we'll make an official statement denying it. This way we can take advantage of the opportunity to fuel the narrative that the press is always lying," wrote one internet user.

Jair Bolsonaro's son, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL-SP), was cited by Fox News as a source who allegedly confirmed that his father's test result was positive. After Bolsonaro's post denying the infection, Eduardo Bolsonaro denied having spoken to the press and then retweeted his father's post, reinforcing Bolsonaro's statement against the press: "Don't believe the fake news media! They are the ones who need you."
