247 - An advertisement featuring American actor Ashton Kutcher as a fictional Indian character, Raj, was pulled from the air after facing harsh criticism from the Indian community. The ad showed Kutcher made up to appear darker and forcing an accent, which the population of the Asian country considered a stereotypical and prejudiced view. This information comes from The New York Times.

The campaign, which cost US$1,5 million, is for the Popchips snack brand, for which Kutcher is a spokesperson, and featured the actor as four different characters. Besides the Indian, there was the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, a Rastafarian, and a biker.
