247 - Actress Claudia Raia has come out in defense of the Rouanet Law, a law that provides incentives to the cultural sector and has been attacked by Bolsonaro supporters and the far right more broadly. The law is a mechanism for providing tax incentives for culture.

"The importance of the Rouanet Law is paramount for Brazilian musicals. It saddens me that there's so little understanding of it," Raia said in an interview with the newspaper. Folha de S. Paul, in defending a musical about Brazilian identity. She plays Tarsila do Amaral in "Tarsila, a Brasileira," a play that opens next Thursday at the Santander Theater.

"I was never a member of the Workers' Party (PT), I am non-partisan, I am a humanist, I am for social causes," she added, emphasizing that, between Lula and Jair Bolsonaro, she opted for the former.
