Six productions from TV Globo were nominated for the 39th International Emmy Awards. Brazil was second only to British television in the number of nominations, which had seven. Among the competing programs are the soap operas "Araguaia" and "Laços de Sangue" and the series "Na Forma da Lei" and "Separação".
The program "Por Toda Minha Vida" (For All My Life), a tribute to Adoniram Barbosa, was also nominated, as were the performances of Adriana Esteves and Fábio Assunção in the miniseries "Dalva e Herivelto".
Swedish television received three nominations, all for the miniseries "Millennium," based on the trilogy written by Stieg Larsson.
In total, 40 productions from 20 countries are competing in 10 categories of the International Emmy Awards, which recognize excellence in television programs outside the United States.
The nominations are selected from more than 1.000 entries from 61 countries. The winners will be announced on November 21 at a ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in New York. (Information from the Associated Press.)
