Boulos protests against RedeTV!'s removal of Lula's podium.

The broadcaster consulted the presidential candidates about removing the podium shortly before the presidential debate, and only Guilherme Boulos, from PSOL, was in favor of keeping the space dedicated to Lula; "Having the chair empty demonstrates that there is an absence and that an injustice is being committed," he stated.

247 - RedeTV!, which organized the presidential debate on Friday night, the 17th, decided to remove an empty podium bearing the name of former president Lula, who was unjustly imprisoned and prevented from participating in the program, even though he was leading in all opinion polls.

The broadcaster consulted the presidential candidates about removing the podium shortly before the program, and only Guilherme Boulos, from PSOL, was in favor of keeping the space dedicated to Lula. "Having the chair empty demonstrates that there is an absence and that an injustice is being committed," he stated.

On social media, Boulos posted a photo of himself next to the podium and wrote: "Today we were the only ones to defend keeping the former president's podium." At the end of the debate, interviewed by the RedeTV! team, the PSOL candidate reinforced his speech in defense of Lula. "He should be here, he is a political prisoner."
