Bolsonaro supporters insult CNN Portugal journalists (video)
CNN Portugal's correspondents in Brazil covering the second round of elections had to interrupt their live coverage due to "difficult working conditions."
247 - Journalists Pedro Bello Moraes and Nuno Quá, special correspondents for CNN Portugal covering the second round of elections in Brazil, were insulted by a group of Bolsonaro supporters in Rio de Janeiro this Sunday (30), after the confirmation of Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) defeat to former President Lula (PT).
From the studio, the news anchor asks the reporter about the "state of mind" of Bolsonaro's supporters in the face of their candidate's defeat, and when approaching a group of Bolsonaro supporters, the reporter and cameraman are insulted and treated with hostility.
"Distrust, outrage, and anger," the reporter describes to the presenter. Following this, he approaches a group of Bolsonaro supporters to hear their side of the story, and the attacks begin.
“Lula doesn’t represent us. The election results were stolen with the stroke of a pen,” shouts a woman. A man next to her directs his insults at the television station. “This TV station is to blame. This TV station is worthless,” he yells. Reporter Pedro Moraes tries to explain that he is from CNN Portugal, but is quickly interrupted.
Subsequently, the woman who claims the election results were rigged questions the support given by the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, in congratulating the president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
Out of control, Bolsonaro supporters shout: “He’s a bandit. He’s a thief. This is an injustice,” referring to the president-elect Lula. At this moment, the journalist explains that the election results reflect democracy. “The majority chose to be represented by him [Lula],” he said.
The journalist decides to end his live segment due to the heated emotions of the Bolsonaro supporters and the escalating insults. Upon returning the broadcast to the studio, the presenter emphasizes that the professionals are "in difficult working conditions."
