Auler: Persecution of Lula could cause irreversible damage to democracy.

He says: “it is not just any candidacy, but that of someone who holds the spontaneous preference of one-fifth (...) of the voters”.

This is the 1st CNI/IBOPE Survey regarding this year's elections.

The data reveals that more than a fifth of Brazilian voters – 21% – spontaneously indicate their willingness to vote for former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for president. This is almost double the number who, without any prompting, mentioned Jair Bolsonaro (11%). Ten times more than those who cited other candidates, such as Ciro Gomes and Marina Silva, who are hovering around 2%.
