247 - The journalist Nelson de Sá He highlights, in his column in the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper this Friday (5), that US generals and other military personnel “have begun to speak out openly” against the threat by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to deploy troops to quell the anti-racism demonstrations that have been taking place for more than a week across the country.

'The first was Admiral Mike Mullen, in an article in The Atlantic entitled "I Cannot Remain Silent." The subtitle read, "Our citizens are not the enemy, never,"' the journalist points out.

"Also in The Atlantic, the following day General Jim Mattis (above), Trump's former Secretary of Defense, defended the protesters and stated that the president is a threat to the Constitution," he points out.

"And General John Allen, former NATO commander, appeared in Foreign Policy to warn: 'We may be witnessing the beginning of the end of American democracy.' He even gave the date, 'June 1, 2020,' the day of Trump's threat," he added.
