Cold wave weakens, but cyclone brings warning of heavy rain to the South.
A mass of hot air is moving across the country, raising temperatures, while Rio Grande do Sul and the northeastern coast are facing storms in the coming days.
247 - After a week marked by severe temperatures, which broke minimum records in several cities in Brazil, the cold weather begins to ease this Friday (27). The information is from the portal g1, which detailed the weather changes expected for the weekend, including a warning of severe storms in the south of the country.
With the high-pressure system that brought the intense cold moving away, a new cold front is forming over Rio Grande do Sul, associated with a cyclone in the ocean, responsible for keeping the state at risk of heavy rains and strong winds. According to Climatempo, the rain should be continuous and concentrated, with the possibility of large accumulated volumes in just 24 hours. “The movement [of the system] begins to bring in a warmer air mass from the interior of the continent, which advances towards the Southern Region. This influx of warm air favors the formation of a low-pressure area, which, throughout the day, should give rise to a new cold front over the region,” explains Allef Matos, meteorologist at Climatempo.
According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), in western Santa Catarina and Paraná, rainfall totals may vary between 30 and 70 millimeters. In Rio Grande do Sul, the situation is more worrying, with forecasts of volumes above 100 millimeters on Sunday (29).
Temperatures rising in the Southeast and Midwest.
While the South faces instability, the Central-West and Southeast regions of Brazil should experience a more stable weekend with rising temperatures. In the interior of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and states like Goiás and Mato Grosso, the sun will appear among few clouds. In the capital of São Paulo, the high could reach 25°C this Saturday and 27°C on Sunday. In Rio de Janeiro, Friday will already have higher temperatures, with thermometers ranging from 13°C in the morning to 32°C in the afternoon. On Saturday, the weather will be cloudy to partly cloudy, with a high of 27°C. North and
Northeast Brazil continues to experience storms.
Unstable weather continues in parts of the North and along the Northeast coast. In Amapá, heavy rains are expected throughout Friday, with high humidity and overcast skies. In Macapá, temperatures will range between 24°C and 32°C, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over the weekend. On the Northeast coast, the capitals Maceió (AL) and Aracaju (SE) are expected to maintain unstable weather, with cloudy skies and isolated showers. Maximum temperatures in both cities are not expected to exceed 28°C. Moderate winds from the southeast are also expected, along with showers over the next few days. The first cold wave of winter is coming to an end.
Although the cold wave that marked the beginning of the Brazilian winter is losing strength, the phenomenon is still expected to leave its mark throughout the season. New episodes of intense cold are expected in the coming months, but, at least this weekend, the outlook points to higher temperatures across much of the country, with heightened attention to areas of instability in the South and on the northeastern coast.
