247 - President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will meet this Tuesday (15), during the United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP27), with Xie Zhen Hua, the Chinese High Representative for Climate, and with John Kerry, who heads the Climate Authority in the United States.

According to the journalist Jamil ChadAccording to UOL, "for observers, the fact that Lula met with Americans and Chinese on the same day sends a signal that Brazil wants to hear all sides, without automatic alignment."

>>> Lula arrives in Egypt where he will make important pronouncements about his government's environmental policy.

“In the specific case of China, Brazil’s interest is to expand cooperation with its largest trading partner. But not to limit itself to just selling raw materials. Dialogue with Beijing, therefore, also involves commitments in other sectors, including the environment,” the journalist points out.

In his meeting with Kerry, Lula is expected to give assurances "that his government will place the environmental issue at the center of its foreign policy strategy, in addition to signaling that resources will be allocated to rebuild environmental agencies in Brazil. However, Lula also brings a message to COP27 that such a change does not mean relinquishing national sovereignty and that all cooperation projects will be carried out under the leadership of the Brazilian government when the subject is the Amazon," Chade points out.
