Germany announces donation of over R$1,1 billion for environmental initiatives.

Alongside Environment Minister Marina Silva, the German minister confirmed the contribution to the Amazon Fund and the states, formalized between the German bank KfW and BNDES.

Agency Brazil - The German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, announced today (30) the release of approximately 200 million euros to be used for environmental actions in Brazil over a period of 100 days. The announcement was made during a press conference in Brasília.

Alongside Environment Minister Marina Silva, German Minister Schulze confirmed that, within the total allocation, 35 million euros will go to the Amazon Fund and 31 million euros will support Amazonian states in implementing what the German government refers to as "ambitious actions" for greater protection of the forest.

The total figure also includes €29,5 million in support for an energy efficiency guarantee fund for small and medium-sized enterprises, with a direct contribution to private investments in energy efficiency; and €5,37 million in a consultancy project to promote renewable energy in industry and the transport sector.

Also included in the announced amount are €13,1 million for a project aimed at supporting small farmers in reforestation efforts on their land; €80 million to provide farmers with access to low-interest credit lines; and €9 million in support of sustainable supply chains.

Amazon Fund

The donation of 35 million euros to the Amazon Fund was formalized through the signing of a financial contract between the German bank KfW and the Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).

Amazonian states

The German government has signaled its intention to allocate 31 million euros to Amazonian states for projects focused on protecting and sustainably using forests, aligned with the policies and strategic objectives of the Amazon Deforestation Prevention and Control Plan.
