The Chinese leader also expressed his willingness to continue working with President Donald Trump to consolidate a solid foundation in bilateral relations. "I am ready to continue working with President Trump to build a firm foundation for China-US relations and create an environment conducive to the development of both countries," he said.
The meeting between Xi and Trump in Gyeongju comes at a time when the powers are seeking to re-establish channels of dialogue and strengthen economic and diplomatic ties, especially in the context of APEC's multilateral discussions.
