247 - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday (27) that Beijing and Washington should “work in the same direction” to promote high-level interactions and create favorable conditions for the development of bilateral relations.

The statements were made during a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as reported by Global Times.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, emphasized that the relationship between China and the United States directly influences "the course of the world." He stated that a "healthy, stable, and sustainable" partnership serves the long-term interests of both countries and "meets the expectations of the international community."

During the dialogue, Wang emphasized that President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump maintain a relationship based on mutual respect, which, according to him, has become "the most valuable strategic asset" in Sino-American relations.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also commented on the recent fluctuations in economic and trade relations between the two countries. According to him, the talks held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, helped to clarify positions, broaden mutual understanding, and reach a basic consensus on urgent issues.

“This proves once again that as long as both sides faithfully implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, maintain the spirit of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit, resolve differences through dialogue and avoid resorting to pressure tactics, it will be possible to stabilize and advance bilateral relations,” Wang said.
