247 - The Chinese capital is preparing to host a historic milestone in the integration of sport and technology. According to information from Global TimesThe Beijing National Speed Skating Stadium will host the World Humanoid Robot Games from August 14th to 17th, 2025, bringing together more than 500 robots from 127 brands, representing 280 teams from 16 countries and competing in 26 disciplines and 538 events.

The highlight will be the first 5-a-side football match between fully autonomous humanoid robots, scheduled for August 15th. In this match, all plays will be controlled exclusively by artificial intelligence algorithms, without any human intervention — a significant leap in research into collective intelligence and collaborative decision-making.

Unprecedented competition and global representation.

Of the 280 teams, 192 are from universities and 88 represent companies, including leaders in the humanoid robotics industry from China. There will also be international teams from countries such as Germany, Australia, Brazil, and the United States. All competitions will be concentrated in the same location, with morning and afternoon sessions of approximately three hours each.

The soccer tournament, which will be held on an Olympic stage for the first time, will feature ten robots competing on the field without human control. The competition promises to attract significant attention from the public and the scientific community, as it is an advanced test of group coordination between machines.

Other high-impact attractions

In addition to the football, the event will feature 487 additional events. Highlights include the 100-meter race, with 90 teams competing for the title of the world's fastest robot, and a special exhibition featuring the top six finishers from the first humanoid robot half-marathon, held in April of this year, also in Beijing.

The participation of high-level athletes promises to elevate the spectacle.

Infrastructure and technological legacy

The event will also mark the official opening of Beijing Humanoid Robot Training BaseAnother highlight is the completion of the first professional football stadium for humanoid robots, the “Panda Eye”, located in the sunken plaza on the west side of the Oval. Its geodesic dome made of ETFE membrane ensures precise control of temperature, humidity and cleanliness, offering a laboratory-standard competition environment while allowing natural light and even moonlight and starlight to pass through.

Near the location, the ROBOLAND Robot Camp It will be a space dedicated to the philosophy of "human-robot integration," with the expectation of becoming an international hub for cooperation and sustainable development in the robotics sector.
