Chinese army responds to joint patrol by the Philippines and other countries in the South China Sea.
A spokesperson for the Chinese military stated that all foreign activities in the region are under full monitoring by the country.
247 - The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) announced this Saturday (1) that it is closely monitoring the “joint patrol” carried out by the Philippines with extraterritorial nations in the South China Sea. The initiative represents a direct threat to the stability of the region and was classified as a deliberate provocation.
According to the Global TimesThe spokesman for the PLA Southern Theater Command, Colonel Tian Junli, stated that the operation, carried out between October 30 and 31, “seriously compromised regional peace and stability.” The military official asserted that Manila “acts in collusion with external forces” and is “the true instigator of problems in the South China Sea issue.”
Tian declared that the Chinese military command has mobilized troops to monitor all movements of foreign vessels. "All these disruptive and sensationalist activities are under complete control," the spokesperson emphasized. According to him, Chinese forces remain "on high alert" and are ready to "resolutely defend national sovereignty, maritime rights, and China's interests."
The Philippine government has strengthened military ties with Western countries, especially the United States, which Beijing interprets as part of a strategy to contain its influence in the South China Sea.
