Tocantins 247 - The second phase of the rotating parking system in downtown Palmas came into effect this Wednesday, the 1st, with the operation of the Green Zone by Infosolo Informática Ltda, which manages the rotating parking. Unlike the Blue Zone, which has been in operation since February in eight parking areas along JK Avenue, in the Green Zone the parking time can be up to four hours.

According to information from the Palmas City Hall, the Green Zone will operate in the parking areas surrounding blocks 104 North and 104 South, that is, along Avenues NS-02, NS-04, LO-01 and LO-02. The internal roads of these blocks will be regulated at a later date.

The rotating parking system will bring over R$ 2 million in infrastructure benefits to Palmas. Construction of sidewalks has already begun, and surveillance cameras will soon be installed, which will also contribute to public safety.

In an APM (Area of Public Interest) located in the middle of block 104 North, a space will be built for vendors of chambari (a typical local dish), who currently occupy a parking lot known as 'Feira da Gambira'.

To guide drivers, signs have been installed at the entrance of all parking areas identifying the type of area the driver is entering, whether it is a Blue Zone or a Green Zone. The color of the signs changes according to the location, making orientation easier.

The Secretary of Accessibility, Mobility, Traffic and Transportation, Christian Zini, emphasizes that the implementation in other areas will be gradual. "In addition to the infrastructure works that the company will carry out to improve urban mobility in these parking lots, part of the money raised will go to the Municipal Mobility Fund, and as the rotating parking system spreads to other regions, this amount will help subsidize public transportation. Our intention is to encourage the use of public transportation, providing higher quality, and only in this way will we be able to reduce the use of individual transportation," he concluded.
