Will Power wins the tenth stage of the IndyCar Series.
Australian rider secures fourth victory of the season at the Edmonton airport circuit in Canada. Brazilians Castroneves and Kanaan finished second and fourth respectively.
Australian Will Power won the IndyCar race in Edmonton on Sunday. The driver had to overcome immense pressure from his Penske teammate, Brazilian Helio Castroneves, in the final 20 laps to secure the victory on the airport track in the Canadian city. Helio crossed the finish line in second place, followed by Dario Franchitti, who once again proved he knows how to avoid accidents.
However, what all the drivers were hoping for was rain, but it didn't appear. This ended up benefiting the competitors. The start of the tenth IndyCar race took place with the safety of a dry track. The unprecedented pole position went to Japanese driver Takuma Sato, who started ahead of Will Power.
The final 14 laps were thrilling, with the frantic pace of the top three: Power, Castroneves, and Franchitti. The gap between them was less than four tenths of a second. Even under pressure from Castroneves and Franchitti, Power held firm in the lead to celebrate his fourth victory of the season.
Among the Brazilians, Tony Kanaan finished in a great fourth place. Vitor Meira crossed the finish line in 12th, while Bia Figueiredo obtained 13th position. The next IndyCar race took place at Mid-Ohio on August 7th.
