Wellington seeks partnerships with Canada.

Governor Wellington Dias received representatives from the Canadian Embassy and Consulate in Brazil at the Karnak Palace. The meeting focused on the interest of Canadian companies in establishing partnerships with the private sector and also public-private partnerships (PPPs) with Piauí. “We researched some criteria we would like to invest in Brazil based on. From the perspective of PPPs, Piauí is well ahead of other states, which allows us to enter an advanced stage of discussion,” pointed out Márcio Francesquine, from the Canadian Consulate for Foreign Trade and Development, who was accompanied by Jason Reeve, from the Canadian Embassy.

Governor Wellington Dias received, this Tuesday (10), at the Karnak Palace, a visit from representatives of the Canadian Embassy and Consulate in Brazil. On the agenda, the interest of Canadian companies in maintaining partnerships with the private sector and also Public-Private Partnerships with Piauí.

“We researched some criteria that we would like to invest in Brazil. From the perspective of PPPs, Piauí is well ahead of other states, which allows us to enter an advanced stage of discussion,” pointed out Márcio Francesquine, from the Canadian Consulate for Foreign Trade and Development, who was accompanied by Jason Reeve, from the Canadian Embassy.

The governor presented to the Canadians several strategic areas suitable for partnerships. These included tourism, education, information technology, renewable energy, mining, and commerce. Dias has already held discussions with the Canadian government to establish partnerships for educational exchange and knowledge transfer in prison system management. Establishing a commercial relationship between Piauí and Canada is becoming a priority.

“We have a range of products here that we can offer, such as food. Knowing what we import from them, we can market it directly. We can work on establishing a commercial base to attract the distribution of Canadian products along our coast,” highlighted Wellington Dias.

Canadians prefer partnerships with small and medium-sized enterprises, focusing on startups, companies in their initial stages. Foreign investors want to visit Nova Ceasa to understand the local system for marketing fruits and vegetables.

At the end of the meeting, Dias and the Canadians exchanged souvenirs. The governor was invited to participate in an international meeting, hosted in Canada in November, which will bring together experts in PPPs from various countries.
