247 - Former minister Jaques Wagner (PT) criticized the statement made by interim Health Minister Ricardo Barros, who said this Friday (22) that the Mais Médicos program is temporary. He mocked the temporary nature of the government of which Barros is a part.
"In reality, the government he's part of is the temporary one. It's temporary, but it wants to cause permanent damage," he said.
According to Wagner, "every time the health plan minister gives an interview, the people lose a right."
"Right after taking office following the coup, Ricardo Barros defended reviewing the size of the SUS (Unified Health System) arguing that the system was too costly. Now, the target of the minister's blindness and insensitivity has been the Mais Médicos (More Doctors) program. Approved by the population and the doctors who participate in it, Mais Médicos guarantees access to basic healthcare for 63 million Brazilians," he added.
He further stated that "for Barros, however, the program should be temporary" because it is not the federal government's responsibility to take care of basic healthcare.
