Wagner signs contract for Porto Sul terminals.

Bahia 247 - The adhesion contract for the two Porto Sul terminals, to be built in Ilhéus, was signed this Monday (6) by the Government of Bahia and the Secretariat of Ports of the Presidency of the Republic (SEP). The ceremony took place at the Governor's Office, Administrative Center of Bahia, and the act was celebrated by Governor Jaques Wagner (PT) and the Minister of SEP, Antônio Henrique Silveira.

The signing of the contract officially confirms that the Private Use Terminal (TUP) of the State of Bahia and the TUP of Bahia Mineração (Bamin) are ready to be installed, forming the largest port development in the Northeast. These terminals had their concessions published by the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (Antaq) in December 2013.

The government of Bahia also launched this morning the call for bids to select private shareholders for the formation of the Special Purpose Entity (SPE) for Porto Sul. Private investments for the construction of Porto Sul will total R$ 5,6 billion over 25 years.

The port will handle all types of bulk cargo and cargo in various packaging forms, with an estimated capacity of 100 million tons/year in its 25th year of operation.
