Wagner: "60% of the people of Salvador are against the coup"
Present at the convention of leftist allies this Sunday in Salvador, former governor and former minister Jaques Wagner stated that one of the topics to be debated in Alice Portugal's (PCdoB) mayoral campaign is the "coup" against President Dilma Rousseff; "These coup guys have polls like I do, and they know that 60% of the people of Salvador are against the coup"; Wagner said it is necessary to present a proposal that will inspire voters and show that everything that has been done in terms of infrastructure was due to the actions of the state or federal government; he called Mayor ACM Neto (DEM) "the perfume shop boy".
Bahia 247 – A sure presence at the convention this Sunday (31), in Salvador, which confirmed Alice Portugal (PCdoB) and Maria del Carmen (PT) as vice-presidential candidates in the race for the City Hall, the former governor and former chief minister of the personal cabinet of the ousted president Dilma Rousseff, Jaques Wagner, in an interview with Bocão News, stated that “these coup guys have polls like I do and they know that 60% of the people of Salvador are against the coup, we have to fight back”.
The statement was directed at the mayor of Salvador, ACM Neto (DEM), whom he called "the perfume shop boy." According to Wagner, Neto will not solve the people's problems. "That perfume shop boy isn't going to solve your problems. He works for the outsiders, and we work for the insiders."
Regarding the strategy to face the current mayor, Wagner explained that it is necessary to present a proposal that excites voters and show that everything that has been done in terms of infrastructure was due to the action of the state or federal government. “I'm not going to say he [Neto] hasn't done anything, but there's been a lot of window dressing. I don't see fear. It will depend a lot on how we present ourselves and having a united force. We have everything to run a good campaign,” he explained.
He also said that Alice and Maria are two warriors who will fight for democracy. And he stated that he doesn't care about polls: "We're going to move forward, I think it's a process. The resistance to a coup is very strong and that will be a point of discussion during the campaign."
