"I will question all the candidates," says Magalhães.

Alexandre Magalhães is running for governor for the small PSDC party and claims he will only be a minor player in the campaign; "Our campaign will be conducted at a high level, but I will not forgo good debate, pointing out the errors and inconsistencies of our competitors," says the career lawyer; Magalhães believes his advantage is not being a professional politician and says he will focus on security, health, and education; "Our proposals are aligned with the aspirations of the people of Goiás, and we advocate for greater efficiency in the use of public resources, with radical cuts in unnecessary expenses."

Goiás247 - Alexandre Magalhães, the gubernatorial candidate for the small PSDC party, doesn't want to be just a figurehead in the Goiás gubernatorial campaign. He promises to heat up the debate and directly challenge his rival candidates. "Our state is divided between groups that continuously control politics, and this scenario needs to change," he said, affirming that he will expose the contradictions of the other candidates without resorting to vulgarity.

"Our campaign will be conducted at a high level, but I will not forgo engaging in good debate, pointing out the errors and inconsistencies of our competitors, which are many and need to be made explicit to the voters."

Magalhães is a lawyer, 47 years old, and has never run for elected office. Although he belongs to a family of politicians – his father was president of the Legislative Assembly – he prefers to boast about not being a career politician.

"I think that not being a professional politician is what sets me apart," he said, adding that the other candidates have or have had the opportunity to hold positions in state government and city halls and have fallen far short.

The lawyer explains that the cornerstones of his government program are security, health, and education. "Our proposals are aligned with the aspirations of the people of Goiás, and we advocate for greater efficiency in the use of public resources, with radical cuts to unnecessary expenses."

"I will question all the candidates and I will not fall for this simplistic and demagogic discourse of blaming the state government for all the problems," he explains. According to him, his criticism will also be aimed at Iris Rezende, Vanderlan, and Antônio Gomide. "I want to go to the second round and my direct opponents are the PMDB, the PT, and the PSB. I will criticize what is wrong, but I will not shy away from acknowledging what is right in relation to all the candidates."

Magalhães says he decided to run for office to renew state politics. "I have the courage to try to change this situation and, therefore, I am a candidate for governor," he said. "Goiás wants to experience a new project, a new way of governing."
