Bahia 247 - Armed men invaded the Prof. Humberto Castro Lima health unit in Pernambués this morning (22), causing panic among patients and staff. The cell phone of a teenager who was waiting for treatment was taken by the robbers, who fled immediately afterwards.
Due to the insecurity and vulnerability of the location, recorded since last month, all services at the unit have been suspended. The matter will be discussed at 8 am this Wednesday (23), in a meeting at the unit itself, with the presence of the municipal health secretary, José Antônio Rodrigues Alves, and representatives of the City Hall's Military House.
Violence in the capital of Bahia has directly interfered with the operation of health units located in peripheral areas such as Lobato, Bate Coração, Alto do Cruzeiro, Alto da Teresinha, and Arenoso, causing the clinics to close before the scheduled time (17 pm) to protect the safety of patients and employees.
This year, robberies and break-ins were also reported at the Virgílio de Carvalho health center in Dendezeiros; the Ministro Alkimin health center in Massaranduba; and at the CAPS (Psychosocial Care Centers) located in the neighborhoods of Rio Vermelho, Cajazeiras, and Alto de Coutos.
