PSDB council members are fighting amongst themselves in the City Council.

Dr. Cristina and Anselmo Pereira, who presides over the House, are on a collision course after she demanded a meeting with a journalist from Goiânia; Anselmo disliked his colleague's approach and accused her of negotiating media publication with public money; Cristina denies this and said that the president of the Chamber verbally assaulted her with "extremely offensive" words.

Goiás 247 - City council members from the PSDB party are not on the same page in the Municipal Chamber. This week has been marked by a clash between councilwoman Dra. Cristina and the president of the Chamber, Anselmo Pereira. The PSDB council members have been dissatisfied with Anselmo ever since he recommended to Mayor Paulo Garcia (PT) that he not go to the Chamber to give an account of his administration in order to avoid unrest with city hall employees who are unhappy with the administration.

The crisis began yesterday. Cristina went to Anselmo to ask him to meet privately with a journalist from Goiânia. The president didn't like it and, according to Cristina's version, responded to the councilwoman rudely. The two then exchanged barbs through the press, and the matter continues to be a hot topic in the corridors of the City Council.

"Anselmo Pereira verbally assaulted me with extremely offensive language after I asked him to speak to a journalist in the CMG plenary session. He accused me of negotiating the publication of material paid for with public money, which is NOT true. Nothing justifies disrespecting a city councilor," the councilwoman said on Twitter.

The councilwoman reacted and is now demanding that Anselmo fulfill promises he made before being elected president of the City Council. She claims that the glass wall installed in the galleries during the previous administration has not yet been removed and criticizes the infrastructure of the plenary hall, with old chairs and unstable internet.

Anselmo is the most experienced councilman in the House and has served more than seven terms. He was elected unopposed at the beginning of the year after Paulo Garcia's base decided not to present a candidate.
