City councilor sends official letter rejecting free iPad offer.

According to Elias Vaz, council members who want equipment should pay for it out of their own pockets; Vaz criticizes the inversion of priorities by the president of the City Council, Clécio Alves (PMDB), who will spend R$ 140 on equipment to be given to council members, while the plenary hall lacks microphones, there are broken chairs in the offices, and there are no cameras for photographers to use.

Goiás247_ Councilman Elias Vaz will present a letter this Thursday to the president of the City Council, Councilman Clécio Alves, informing him that he is not interested in receiving tablets purchased with City Council funds. The president announced this week that a bidding process will be held on the 25th for the acquisition of the equipment, intended for council members and directors. The estimated cost would be around R$140.

But Elias Vaz considers the measure unnecessary and misguided. According to him, the councilman who wants a tablet should pay for the equipment, not the City Council. “Besides being wrong, I believe the City Council has other priorities. To give you an idea, there are not enough microphones in the plenary hall, several offices and departments have broken chairs, making it impossible to adequately serve employees, and there aren't even cameras for photographers to work with. We need to prioritize investments in areas that truly have a need,” argues the councilman.

In addition to Elias Vaz, other council members are expected to sign the official document waiving the purchase of the equipment.
