City councilor denounces overpriced tent rentals.

Djalma has already brought to the attention of the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Court of Auditors a contract between the city hall and a company worth R$ 1,5 million for the rental of stands and tents; the councilman says that with R$ 300, the Executive branch could buy its own equipment and still save money; the city hall claims that the contract serves to rent tents for activities of any department, "thus covering all events of the City Hall of Goiânia".

Goiás 247 - Councilman Djalma Araújo (SDD) denounces that the city hall of Goiânia has been spending a lot of money on renting tents and stands for events and community workdays held by the Municipal Palace. Djalma reveals that the city hall signed a contract with the company Rec Produções for R$ 1,5 million to rent the tents.

However, according to Djalma, the price is too high. He says the market value for renting the tents is R$ 140. He also issues another warning: with R$ 300, the city could buy its own equipment and thus avoid renting the tents.

Djalma has already filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Municipal Court of Accounts (TCM). “The contract is worth R$ 1,5 million for the rental of tents and stands to be used during the community cleanup effort. In my understanding, this is an overpriced contract, because the value of the tents used during the cleanup effort does not exceed R$ 300 or R$ 400. It is much easier for the city hall to buy them than to spend public money,” he said in an interview with reporter Rubens Salomão, from Portal 730.

"Contract number 225887-1, worth 1,5 million, signed in June for the rental of stands and tents, was not only for the Mutirões (community outreach programs), but also for any external activity of any department, thus serving all events of the Goiânia City Hall," this was the response from the city hall sent to Portal 730.
