Rio de Janeiro – Tickets for the 2014 World Cup will go on sale on August 20. The information was released today (28) by the Marketing Director of the International Federation of Football (FIFA), Thierry Weil, during the presentation of the ticket model for the Confederations Cup. Weil reported that more than 600 tickets have already been sold and that there are no more tickets available for the opening and closing matches, nor for the Brazilian national team's matches in the Confederations Cup.
According to him, the ticket will have a holographic seal to prevent counterfeiting and collection for those who bought online will take place from tomorrow (29) at Fifa distribution centers. In Rio, the planned locations are: Galeão/Tom Jobim International Airport, Hotel Windsor Guanabara, in the center, and at Cidade das Artes, on Avenida das Américas, in Barra da Tijuca.
At the booth set up in Cidade das Artes, simply present an official identification document to collect your ticket, which is nominative and will only be given to the purchaser. At Galeão Airport and the Windsor Guanabara Hotel, you need to access the FIFA website (www.fifa.com) and schedule ticket collection.
"We advise people to schedule in advance so they can set the day and time they want to pick up their tickets. The goal is to facilitate the process and avoid long lines. Starting June 1st, we will put another batch of 200 tickets on sale," said Weil, regarding the remaining tickets.
According to him, in rare cases, there will be remaining tickets from Brazil's matches, but theoretically it is still possible to obtain a ticket to see the Brazilian national team, as some purchased tickets did not have the transaction completed due to payment problems and will be put up for sale again.
In the other cities where Confederations Cup matches will be held, tickets must be collected at the following locations: Brasília, Ulisses Guimarães Convention Center; Fortaleza, Ceará Events Center; Belo Horizonte, Boulevard Shopping; Salvador, Iguatemi Shopping Mall; and Recife, Recife Shopping Mall.
Those who purchased discounted tickets, such as students or senior citizens, must present personal identification both when picking up the ticket and upon entering the stadium. Ticket collection hours are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
