VCA will face intervention from the City Hall if buses stop operating again.
“The mayor has already announced that this is no longer acceptable. From now on, the first situation that causes harm to the public will result in intervention from the City Hall. Any problem that occurs, the SMTT (Municipal Superintendence of Transportation and Traffic) will intervene with the company so that public transport users are not left stranded,” stated Nelson Felipe, Superintendent of Transportation and Traffic of Aracaju.
Sergipe 247 – The Aracaju City Hall will intervene in Viação Cidade de Aracaju (VCA) if new incidents occur that cause the discontinuation of public transportation services in the capital, as has happened on several occasions in recent months. The company is mired in an unprecedented labor crisis. Employee salaries are overdue, and the city hall, as a form of punishment, has already reduced the company's fleet in circulation by 80 buses.
“The mayor has already announced that this is no longer acceptable. The first instance of a situation that causes harm to the public from now on will result in intervention from the City Hall. Any problem that occurs, the SMTT (Municipal Superintendence of Transportation and Traffic) will intervene with the company so that public transport users are not left stranded,” stated Nelson Felipe, Superintendent of Transportation and Traffic of Aracaju, in an interview with Cinform this week.
He states that the city hall has already contacted companies throughout Brazil to verify their availability to provide services in Aracaju, but all are hesitant due to VCA's debts. If an intervention occurs, it has a time limit: six months. In other words, the city hall's action would only be a temporary measure.
