Vanderlan: "Archaic politics held Goiânia back"

"Goiânia has been managed in recent years without planning and without concrete actions. Today, if you ask me which area has the greatest deficiencies, which one we will attack first, I will say that we have to attack all areas, because today, Goiânia is a dark and dirty city," said the PSB candidate; Vanderlan Cardoso also criticized the mismanagement of financial resources; in the last two years, Goiânia had a deficit in its accounts of R$ 400 million.

Goiás 247 - Candidate Vanderlan Cardoso (PSB) gave an interview to the Jornal Opção website, criticizing the current administration of the Goiânia city hall and stating his plans, if elected, to put the capital back on the path to development. Vanderlan begins his street campaign this Thursday with walks through neighborhoods near the municipality of Senador Canedo, where he was mayor and had a well-regarded administration.

"Goiânia has been managed in recent years without planning and without concrete actions. Today, if you ask me which area has the greatest deficiencies, which one we will attack first, I will say that we have to attack all areas, because today, Goiânia is a dark and dirty city; a city where the squares have fallen apart, the weeds have taken over; a city where mothers don't have access to daycare; job opportunities; a city where no industrial district or development hub has been implemented, not even in the capital's area of vocation, which is the clothing manufacturing hub. So there are many deficiencies in our capital. We will attack all areas."

"With a lot of hard work, presenting our proposals, speaking with authority, showing that Goiânia needs management and planning. The people no longer want pats on the back, they want results, and that's what we're proposing: a results-oriented policy. We have to restore the pride that the people of Goiânia had during the time of Professor Nion Albernaz (PSDB). Goiânia can and expects more than this archaic politics that only favors allies. The people of Goiânia want change," said Vanderlan, whose running mate is councilman Thiago Albernaz, Nion's grandson.

In recent years, the city hall of Goiânia has faced serious financial problems and even had a deficit of R$ 400 million in its accounts. Vanderlan states that the staff is qualified and that there is a lack of planning on the part of the Executive branch.

"The city hall staff is good. For example, I've met people at Comurg who have bought hoes and street sweepers with their own money because they enjoy the job. These people just need support. And beyond that, it's about good planning and commitment. If the mayor wants to succeed, he has to leave his office and see what the people are saying. A mayor who stays in his office is doomed to failure because he'll only listen to the sycophants and won't know what's really going on. The population doesn't lie, and he'll find out the reality of his administration. I want to be a present mayor, like I was in Senador Canedo, acting the moment problems arise."
