The parliamentarian stated that he is still gathering information about the investigations that point to the involvement between the former Democrat and the illegal gambling businessman Carlinhos Cachoeira. However, Humberto guaranteed that he will give Demóstenes all the necessary space to present his arguments in defense.
“I will wait for his defense to be presented so that I can prepare my preliminary report. All I have seen so far is what is in the press, so I cannot make a judgment now. It would be a form of prejudgment,” said Humberto.
The Workers' Party member also said that Demóstenes will have every right to defend himself as needed. "From there, I will prepare a report that I am certain will represent a sense of justice," he concluded.
