Uber will soon detail its plan to phase out the use of diesel cars in London.

(Reuters)- Uber has said it will provide more information in the coming weeks about how it plans to stop using diesel-powered cars in London and about a proposed scrapping scheme, as the court-ordered deadline approaches for the taxi app to defend its right to operate in London.

The Silicon Valley company said in September that it would stop using diesel-powered cars in London by the end of 2019 and that the vast majority of rides would be provided by electric or hybrid vehicles.

“In the coming weeks, we will be defining more details of our plan to take thousands of diesel cars off the roads, as we aim to be fully electric in London by 2025,” said Uber’s UK general manager, Tom Elvidge.

Shortly after the September announcement, Uber was deemed incapable of operating a taxi service by the regulator Transport for London (TfL) and had its license revoked.

Elvidge said the company made mistakes.

“TfL’s decision quickly became the latest wake-up call for a company that had grown incredibly fast but still needed to grow,” he added in a statement.

Your appeal will be heard at the end of June.
